Indian Bird Flu Epidemic Spreads to 3rd State

The small eastern state of Sikkim has become the latest India state to confirm an outbreak of bird flu. The state boarders West Bengal, which itself boarders Assam state - the two previous states to have confirmed bird flu outbreaks, and where in excess of 480,000 poultry birds have been culled. Sikkim state also boarders Nepal where outbreaks authorities are currently trying to contain an outbreak of bird flu. India’s ’Rapid Response’ teams have been deployed and more culling will commence shortly.
